I guess if you have some time ... you could develop your own implementation of a table display.
For instance, have a look at Advanced Data table in the SCN Community package. I am pretty sure it will not work the way you want (meaning being able to add icons) but it's a library.
With sufficient time and skill, you could create one with the cells value as attribute in the HTML tags, enabling the usage of CSS attribute selectors. Or add a ruleset system ...
If you want to go for a easier version, you could use Mike's data iterator along Rapid Prototyping HTML component to generate a HTML table. You would have of course to support the sorting one way or another.
But looking at your requirement make me think an extension would be the best way to achieve it.
Too bad Scorecard do not support sorting. Maybe you could send it as a Idea to sap ? (ideas.sap.com)
Maybe you could implement a sorting script in DS directly ? Extract the fields, add them in a list, with a radio button up/down and use the sort method on the datasource). I think the data will be sorted afterwards and the scorecard will be impacted as well.
